Os Guinness talked about his book, The Case For Civility: And Why Our Future Depends on It, published by HarperOne. Mr. Guinness offers a proposal for restoring civility in the U.S. as a model for the wider world where living with deep differences has become a global problem. He argues for an end to what he sees as the polarization of American culture that threatens the principles of liberty, diversity and unity set forth by the nation’s founders. Mr. Guinness talked about the concept of a “civil religion” and why religion should be kept out of schools. He responded to telephone calls and electronic mail.
